Resumen

This paper offers an overall review of all Catalan translations of Ovid’s Heroides. The first part is devoted to the three main, complete versions: the medieval rendering by Guillem Nicolau (ap. Pujol 2018), the «Noucentista» version by Adela Maria Trepat and Anna Maria de Saavedra (1927) and the recent one by Esther Artigas (2021). The main goal is to illustrate how these translators have tackled different interpretative and textual difficulties (namely, 1.1-2, 4.1-2, 13.1-2 and 7.85). The second part presents an ad hoc treatment of the two remaining, partial versions: the baroque recreation of three epistles by Agustí Eura (ap. Valsalobre 2002) and the misleading translation of the individual heroides by Adriana Beltran del Río (2020a).
