Abstract

For over a decade, the Vilanova i la Geltrú City Council has collaborated with the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) to develop projects beneficial to the city. This partnership involves three UPC schools: the School of Engineering of Vilanova i la Geltrú, the School of Building Engineering of Barcelona, and the School of Civil Engineering of Barcelona. To date, 33 projects have been completed, nine of which were carried out by European Project Semester (EPS) teams in collaboration with the School of Engineering of Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG). This paper focuses on these nine projects, selected by the City Council for their relevance to the city and their educational value, motivating students to work on real-world challenges. In total, the projects involved 45 students from 15 countries and multiple engineer- ing fields, working collaboratively in teams of five. These EPS projects have delivered positive outcomes for both the City Council and the university, demonstrating the effectiveness of this collaborative methodology.
