Abstract

In recent years there has been an increase in works of a scientific nature focused on women's football. On the other hand, studies of a tactical nature, and more specifically the static situations of the game, still remain outside the research framework. The aim of this study has been twofold: on the one hand, to know and compare the regularity, effectiveness and importance of the corners in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 as opposed to the FIFA World Cup 2014; On the other, through the realization of different contingency tables and the application of a Chi-Square, we proceeded to identify the variables associated with success for the three criteria considered: shot, shot between the posts and goal. 1117 corner kicks executed in 116 games were coded and analyzed. The results indicate a high regularity of these actions during the men's and women's world, and a low efficiency in terms of auction, shot between the three clubs and goal for both genders. With regard to the variables that are conditioning the success, although moderate differences are observed in both championships, the corners in women's football must continue taking steps towards the construction of a model of offensive management.
