Acudits grecs sobre universitaris. El Philogelos i els problemes de traducció del terme σχολαστικός a les llengües modernes.

Abstract

[cat] El Philogelos, escrit en grec pels volts del segle IV, és l'únic recull que ens ha arribat d'acudits que probablement provenen del l'època d'August. Gairebé un 40% tenen com a protagonista un scholastikós. Aquest article tracta del personatge i del seu paper en els acudits, com a estudiant universitari, professor absort o advocat poc pràctic. Una comparació de diverses traduccions modernes del Philogelos mostra la dificultat de trobar un terme adequat per a l'scholastikós sense perdre la gràcia dels acudits, ja que les llengües modernes accentuen o bé el significat professional del terme o bé l'estupidesa del personatge. [EN] The Philogelos, written in Greek around the 4th century AD, is the only surviving collection of jokes dating probably from the Augustean era. Almost 40% of the jokes it contains involve a scholastikos.

[en] This paper focuses on this character, and his role in the jokes: as a university student, an absent‐minded professor or an unpractical lawyer. A comparison of different modern translations of the Philogelos shows the difficulty of finding a suitable form for scholastikos without losing the humour in the jokes, since modern languages usually stress either the professional meaning of the word or the stupidity of the character.
