Distanciado de lo meramente conceptual a nivel de definiciones, este artículo inten-ta arrojar elementos que permitan una comprensión de la dimensión funcional de la policía y de la seguridad, delimitándolas no solo a través de la descripción de las tareas que implican, sino diferenciándolas también a partir de los motivos por los cuales se asignan unas tareas y se descartan otras, como criterio de discriminación necesario para una teoría social que pretenda marcar los límites conceptuales de su propio objeto de estudio. |

Distanced from the merely conceptual thing to level of definitions this article tries to throw elements that allow a comprehension of the functional dimension of the police and of the safety, delimiting them not only across the description of the tasks that they imply, but in addition differentiating them also from the motives by which a few tasks are assigned and others discard, as criterion of discrimination necessary for a social theory that tries to mark the conceptual limits of his proper object of study. |
