The proposed paper concerns a current work about a methodology of damage identification on composite material plates. The purpose of this study is to create a methodology to check the damage in composite plates through a combination of numerical and experimental results. This methodology consists in performing numerical finite elements homogenization (ABAQUS) of the plate’s global mechanical properties. The validation of the homogenization is performed through finite element and test modal analysis correlation (FEMtools) of an intact plate. Then a local experimental damage is created. The numerical identification of that damage on the plate is done through combining the numerical modal analysis of the intact plate with the experimental modal analysis of the damaged plate. This methodology can be applied to any composite material (vegetable fiber like Alfa, carbon fiber,…) and to any composite geometry. In this article, the first part of this methodology homogenization is applied to a Carbon-Epoxy unidirectional laminated composite plate. |
