dc.description.abstract
This chapter examines the role of the European Union (EU) at the international level in strengthening access to justice in environmental matters. It then looks at the limitations and gaps in the EU regulatory framework in this area at the EU
and member state levels. It also shows how these circumstances weaken the EU's role in the international arena, in particular, before the European Union Court of Justice (EUCJ) in the wake of the case ACCC/C/2008/32 of Aarhus Convention
Compliance Committee v EU, and it concludes with some final remarks.
