Organització social del treball, salaris i mercat laboral a Catalunya: el cas d'una explotació agrària de la comarca de la Segarra a la darreria del segle XIX

[cat] Aquest article analitza les formes de reclutament de la força de treball al camp català a la darreria del segle xix, la dinàmica i els trets estructurals dels mercats de treball i les formes de configuració i negociació dels salaris agrícoles. Se centra en el cas de la comarca de la Segarra i, especialment, en el d'una explotació agrícola situada a l'antic poble de Timor, que actualment forma part del municipi de Ribera d'Ondara. Les dades i informacions utilitzades s'obtenen de les llibretes de treballs d'un propietari agrícola, on sistemàticament anotava totes les tasques fetes pels mossos i jornalers contractats durant el període 1884-1895. El treball mostra la viabilitat de l'explotació directa amb treball assalariat, la convivència de diferents tipologies i modalitats contractuals, l'existència de diferències salarials, la integració i la segmentació dels mercats de treball agrícola, la insuficiència dels salaris per garantir la subsistència i reproducció de les unitats familiars i els nivells de conflictivitat laboral.

[eng] This article discusses the forms of recruitment of the labour force in the Catalan country side in the late nineteenth century, the dynamics and structural features of labour markets and the forms of negotiation and setting of agricultural wages. We focus on the case of the Segarra region, particularly on a farm located in the old village of Timor, which currently forms part of the municipality of Ribera d'Ondara. Most of the data used come from the notebooks of a local landowner, who systematically wrote down all the work done by farm-hands and day-labourers over the period 1884-1895. The results show the feasibility of direct exploitation using wage labour, the coexistence of different types and modalities of labour contracts, the existence of wage differentials, the integration and the segmentation of the agricultural labour markets of, the inadequacy of wages to meet the subsistence and reproduction needs of family units and the levels of labour conflict.
