Abstract

The RILEM Technical Committee 261-CCF has recently launched an international Round-Robin Test with the aim of improving the knowledge on creep or long-term behavior of cracked section of Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC). The objectives of this RRT are to check different test methodologies and evaluate the repeatability of the creep test results. This paper presents and discusses the RRT organization, the experimental program, concrete mixes, different testing methodologies, the criteria applied for the test parameters definition, and the starting point in the RRT development. In total, 19 international research groups from 22 institutions are involved in the RRT. One concrete matrix was defined with two different types of fiber reinforcement: steel fibers and macro-synthetic fibers. The dosages of fibers were established in 30 kg/m3 for steel fibers and 10 kg/m3 for macro-synthetic fibers. More than 14 tons of FRC in 451 specimens (including prism, cylinders, square panels and round panels) were produced in a unique location (Valencia, Spain) to avoid differences due to the mixing. The specimens were then shipped to their testing destinations. Specimens were cast for different purposes: characterization at multiple ages, flexural creep test, direct tension creep tests and creep in compression. This RRT is expected to have duration of one year under sustained load.
