Abstract

The Oberhafen is a goods depot in the east of the Hafencity, the biggest current urban development in Europe, with almost 160 ha. Although its privileged central location and 1.5 lineal Km in contact with the river Elbe, a railway embankment isolates the area with solely one north access under the bridge Oberhafenbrücke. The Oberhafen will become from 2015 a creative hub. The future transformation of the area will be the opposite of the Hafencity conventional development. The starting point will be the modernisation of the one-story good sheds and no flood protection will be provided to the area. The future renovated buildings will include their own strategy against it. This Master Thesis has been developed during my stay for 18 months in the cities of Hamburg, Zurich and Barcelona and was defended on June 26, 2014 in the last.
