Gestió mediambiental d'una escola : instal·lació d'una caldera de biomassa

Abstract

The environment and natural resources are a common good of all humanity, both present and future. Therefore, both society in general and companies in particular are concerned about the impact on the environment, in order not to destroy the future of coming generations. Given the growing environmental problems, I decided to start the implementation of an Environmental Management System, opting to implement UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004. This decision has three objectives: to minimize the environmental impacts of development activities, to assume the environmental responsibilities of the organization, and to obtain certification as an environmental management standard. It is based on an objective standard of Environmental Management (UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004), “set goals for the implementation of improvements in environmental management.” I decided to calculate the feasibility, energy savings, and economic viability of installing a biomass boiler in the La Salle Manresa school. The Lasallian community owns a forest estate located in the municipality of Sant Martí de Sesgueioles (Anoia), where the House of La Salle has recently installed a biomass boiler. I believe it would be feasible for the forestry farm to produce its own forest fuel instead of buying it from a company specialized in this sector, which would minimize costs. Finally, and not least, in the case of a school, Casal La Salle could be used as a scout camp where environmental education and awareness could be provided to students from different schools about the future of energy in the world, even explaining the different existing renewable energies (biomass, photovoltaic, and wind).
