dc.description.abstract
More than 200 water springs have been identified in the Collserola Natural Park, each with particular characteristics determined by its geographical and geological context, as well as by the influence of human activities in its surroundings. This article focuses on the chemical analysis of the water from the springs located on the eastern slopes of the mountain range. A precise overview of the current state of the Collserola mountain range springs is provided, both in terms of their mineralogical composition and water quality, including their geographical location. Various laboratory techniques are used to determine the different analytical parameters, including conductimetry, pH measurement, and ion chromatography, among others. The study has concluded that the water from the Collserola mountain range springs has a neutral pH, low mineralization, and high hardness. A significant concentration of sodium, chlorides, and calcium has also been observed. In several cases, the detected values exceed the limits established by the World Health Organization (WHO) for drinking water, with regard to the levels of sulfates, iron and nitrates.
