Abstract

This project looks into the multiple approaches that could be taken to make a Trading Card Game (TCG) that successfully integrates both a digital and physical version of the same game. This is called a “hybrid” TCG. To fulfill this purpose, the full history of Trading Card Games (TCGs) is researched and the rules by which this type of game is designed are laid out. Once all of this information is gathered, the game and mobile application known as Singularity, are proposed as a two-faced product that fills the previously stated role of creating a “hybrid” Trading Card Game. The design of its multiple views and cards in Figma, as well as its code implementation in the game engine Unity are thoroughly documented and supported visually. Finally, the Singularity card game is put to the test by analysing the data accumulated through hosting small playtesting sessions.
