The article analyses the iconography of the series minted by the bishops of Vic, Girona and Besalú during the period from the 10th to the 12th century. The images on the coins are clearly religious and related to the bishops and saints of the cathe-drals that are entitled to the ius cudendi monetam. These choices are probably an attempt to legitimise coins struck by religious authorities in the general context of the conflict between civil and religious power.
