Consideracions iconogràfiques a l'entorn d'un gravat atribuït a Ramon Olivet (1646)

Abstract

L’autor publica i estudia un gravat inèdit que atribueix a la mà del gravador català Ramon Olivet (1585/95-1657). La imatge constitueix l’element decoratiu central de la portada d’una al·legació jurídica publicada el 1646 per compte del Col·legi d’obrers i de moneders de la Seca Reial de Barcelona. La representació del gravat al·ludeix, de manera al·legòrica, a la Seca i al Col·legi barcelonins i a la seva relació amb la Corona en el moment crucial de la Guerra dels Segadors (1640-1652). L’estudi, a part de publicar i justificar l’autoria del gravat, se centra en la intencionalitat i el sentit iconogràfic de l’obra.

The author publishes and studies an unknown engraving which he attributes to the Catalan engraver Ramon Olivet (1585/95-1657). The image is the central decorative element of the cover of a lawsuit published in 1646 by the College of Workers and Money Coiners of the Barcelona Royal Mint. The engraved image makes an allegorical allusion to the Bar-celona Mint and College and their relationship to the Crown at the crucial time of the Reapers’ War (1640-1652). Apart from publishing and justifying the authorship of the engraving, this study also focuses on the intention and inconogra-phical meaning of the artwork.
