Notes sobre caràbids (3a nota): dos caràbids nous per a la fauna ibèrica, trobats a Catalunya (Coleoptera)

Abstract

En aquest treball s’aporta informació sobre la descoberta recent de dues espècies de coleòpters caràbids a Catalunya i que han resultat ésser dues novetats de notable interès. Una d’elles, Calathus ambiguus s. str. Paykull, 1790, és nova per a la fauna Ibèrica, mentre que la segona Patrobus teresae Vives & Vives, 2001, és una espècie nova per a la ciència, i amb molt significat biogeogràfic, ja que es tracta del primer representant de la subfamília Patrobinae a la península Ibèrica. Curiosament la subfamília Patrobinae és d’àmplia distribució boreal àrtica, fins ara tan sols coneguda per uns pocs gèneres propis de la regió paleàrtica i neàrtica, amb algunes espècies representades als grans massissos alpins de l’Europa central, però no als Pirineus. Al contrari, el Sphodrini Calathus ambiguus s. str. Paykull, solament es coneixia de la fauna Ibèrica per la subespècie C. ambiguus chevrolati Gautier, descrita de Portugal i present a gran part de la Península. Mentre que les recents captures d’aquesta espècie al delta de l’Ebre corresponen a la subespècie típica, bastant diferenciada i fins ara coneguda tan sols de l’Europa central.

This paper describes the recent discovery of two species of carabids from Catalonia that are of particular interest. One of them, Calathus ambiguus s. str. Paykull, 1790 (Sphodrini), is new to the Iberian fauna, while the second, Patrobus teresae Vives & Vives, 2001, is new to science and very significant biogeographically, since it is the first representative of the subfamily Patrobinae from the Iberian Peninsula. The subfamily Patrobinae has a wide Boreal-Arctic distribution and hitherto has only been known from a few Palaearctic and Nearctic genera, with a few species represented in the great Alpine massifs of central Europe, but not in the Pyrenees. On the other hand Calathus ambiguus s. str. Paykull was only known in the Iberian fauna from the subspecies C. ambiguus chevrolati Gautier, described from Portugal and present in a large part of the Peninsula. The recent captures of this species in the Ebro delta are of the typical subspecies, well differentiated and known until now only from central Europe.
