La arquitectura de tierra en el sistema defensivo fenicio de la Fonteta

Abstract

Se presentan las evidencias del uso de la arquitectura de tierra en el sistema defensivo de La Fonteta (Guardamar del Segura, Alicante). Se trata de una muralla de cajones, con un relleno de capas de tierra y piedras, aunque también se utilizara el adobe para la construcción del zócalo. El uso del adobe se documenta asimismo para la superestructura de la muralla y las torres, pero también para la construcción del antemural, localizado a unos 4 m al exterior de la muralla, contando tanto la muralla como el antemural con un recubrimiento de tierra. Este trabajo incluye el análisis macroscópico de algunos adobes, completos o fragmentados, y de restos de los recubrimientos de la muralla y del antemural, además del estudio micromorfológico y análisis DRX del recubrimiento de la muralla.

Evidence of the use of earthen architecture in the defensive system of La Fonteta (Guardamar del Segura, Alicante) is presented. It is a drawer wall, filled with layers of earth and stones, although mud-brick was also used for the construction of the wall stone foundations. The use of mud-brick is also documented for the superstructure of the wall and the towers, but also for the construction of the avant-mur, located about 4 m in front of the wall, with the wall itself and the avant-mur having been covered with an earthen mixture. This work includes the macroscopic analysis of mud-bricks, complete or fragmented, and of the remains of the rendering of the wall and avant-mur, as well as the micromorphological study and XRD analysis of the wall rendering.
