La influència cartaginesa sobre els sistemes defensius urbans del nord-est peninsular a finals del segle III aC

Abstract

Las últimas intervenciones arqueológicas realizadas en tres ciudades ibéricas situadas inmediatamente en el norte del Ebro: el Castellet de Banyoles, el Vilar y Masías de San Miquel, han puesto al descubierto nuevos e interesantes restos referentes a sus sistemas defensivos. En los tres casos se han podido documentar indicios de la incorporación de estructuras defensivas de posible inspiración helenística que se podrían poner en relación con los acontecimientos históricos relacionados con la Segunda Guerra Romano-Cartaginesa. El debate sobre estos añadidos arquitectónicos gira entorno a su origen y sobre los agentes, locales o foráneos, que llevaron a cabo su diseño y construcción.

The latest archaeological interventions carried out in three Iberian cities located immediately at north of the Ebro river: El Castellet de Banyoles, El Vilar and Masies de Sant Miquel, have uncovered new and interesting remains relating to their defensive systems. In the three cases cited, it has been possible to document evidence of the incorporation of sophisticated defensive elements of Hellenistic origin that must be linked to the historical events related to the Second Roman-Car- thaginian War. The debate about these architectural additions revolves around their origin and the agents, local or foreign, who carried out their design and construction.
