La Xarxa de Referència d'R+D+I en Economia Aplicada (XREAP) neix al 2006 fruit d'un contracte programa amb el Departament d'Innovació, Universitats i Empresa de la Generalitat de Catalunya, i de l'evolució del seu antecedent, el Centre de Referència en Economia Aplicada (CREAP), amb l'objectiu de constituir una xarxa que integri als grups de recerca en economia aplicada de les universitats catalanes.
