Advanced Course on Competing risks: Concepts, methods and software

Abstract

The present volume contains the notes prepared by professor Ronald Geskus for the Advanced Course Competing Risks; Concepts, Methods and Software organized by the Centre de Recerca Matematica (CRM) in Bellaterra from October 14 to 16, 2015. This advanced course consists of three lectures on competing risks analysis. The rst one introduces the basic concepts and their estimation; the second lecture explains the multi-state approach to regression; the third lecture covers the alternative subdistribution approach to competing risk analysis. Many examples from epidemiological and clinical studies will illustrate which method is best suited to answer a speci c type of research question.
