Incidencia de los materiales de embalaje permanente en el control ambiental pasivo de colecciones osteológicas: resultados preliminares

Abstract

Long term conservation of scientific collections depends on the maintenance of their environmental conditions within certain limits, among other factors. This work examines whether the packaging materials used to store disarticulated skeletons have any influence on these conditions. In particular, a polypropylene box is compared with a cardboard, recording data of relative humidity and temperature for a year. The results of a first statistical analysis seem to indicate that there are significant differences between both materials. The polypropylene packaging offers better insulation against the relative humidity than the cardboard. In contrast, this advantage does not appear to be evident against temperature.
