Abstract

In the context of globalization, Global Citizenship Education (GCE) has emerged as a tool to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to adapt and transform the current dynamics. In this regard, a comparative study of the transversal integration of GCE in Catalan universities is conducted. Adopting a constructivist lens and a qualitative methodology, the analysis focuses on the GCE integration in the teaching dimension of UB and UdG, tackling the universities’ teaching models, professor training, and two degree programs of each. The research concludes that there is a high level of integration of GCE in both the teaching model and the degree programs selected, and a low integration level in the training of university professors. Therefore, although GCE is in the agenda of the selected universities at the institutional level, the research calls for higher integration in the training of university professors, and across disciplines.
