Deploy EDI in ERP 365

Abstract

This Master’s Thesis outlines the integration of an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) system within the ERP solution Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, with focus on the PRICAT message (Price Catalog) integration. The implementation has been done within the scope of a double Master’s program, in collaboration with the company I am currently employed with, bringing into action the theoretical knowledge acquired within the practical work environment. The project focused on automating the exchange of product and price information from suppliers to the ERP system to reduce errors and manual processing. Once the PRICAT import was performed, the data was used to generate purchase orders, transfer orders, coverage calculations, and accounting journals automatically, seamlessly integrating the catalog into daily operations. The solution integrated the use of generic Electronic Reporting (ER) with custom developments, which could offer flexibility, maintainability, and alignment with the client’s processes. The exercise also proves the value of double training programs, by aligning educational learnt knowledge with real company requirements.
