Abstract

In 2011, a new agency, EU-LISA, was created in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ) to manage largescale IT systems. From then onwards, the agency has been responsible for the communication infrastructure of SIS II, VIS and Eurodac, without merging those databases. Due to its short time in operation, it is difficult to assess the effectiveness of EU-LISA, but this paper aims to give an overview of the agency to facilitate knowledge about it

En 2011 se creó una nueva agencia en el Espacio de Libertad, Seguridad y Justicia (ELSJ), EU-LISA, con el objetivo de gestionar los sistemas informáticos de gran magnitud. A partir de ese momento la agencia es la responsable de la infraestructura de comunicación de SIS II, VIS y Eurodac, sin que ello comporte la fusión de dichas bases de datos. Debido al poco tiempo que lleva funcionando es difícil valorar su efectividad, pero en el presente artículo se quiere ofrecer una visión global de la misma que facilite su conocimiento
