The project introduced in the following lines has the main purpose in the test of the Bluetooth technology applied to the indoor positioning, mainly in airports. The main elements involving the project are a series of Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE, beacons accurately positioned in the Barcelona-Madrid Air Shuttle in terminal 1 of the Barcelona - El Prat Airport and a Smartphone that is going to work as a receiver. The Smartphone, interacting with the beacons through an own application, it is going to calculate its own position and show it through the display. From this way it is going to be possible to determine if the calculations and results are proper or not and if the BLE technology is candidate to be used in airports or not. To get through the main objective some other secondary objectives, working as steps, are defined. They are four: · Understand how beacons and a Smartphone interact with each other. · Calculate proper positions with the needed accuracy. · Get the good results expected at the beginning by following the process as defined. · Learn how to produce mobile applications (App's). The methodology used in the whole project it has always the same mechanism. Evaluate the options by a theoretical previous study, test individually those options to confirm the best results expected from the best option and finally implement all the parts for the final test of the main app. For the main app test three versions are configured to allow the team to test and compare the results obtained from each of the versions. Also to confirm the best option designed. Finally, as a general conclusion, all the fixed objectives are achieved during the project. The high expectations of BLE applied to airports are confirmed. Otherwise, improvements and evolution of the technology are highly expected to make the BLE more accurate and compatible with the indoor location, especially in airports. |
