MOVE (Markets, Organizations and Votes in Economics) is a public research consortium founded by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). The Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation also gave it support during its first years. It was launched in the summer of 2009 under the directorship of Prof. Salvador Barberà.

MOVE is located at the Bellaterra Campus of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and it has close links with the Unit of Economics Analysis (UAB) and the IAE (CSIC). Currently MOVE consists of four research groups: Economics of Science and Innovation, Mechanism Design, Quantitative Economics and Immigration and Development.

Its mission is to promote frontier research, by providing an active research environment. MOVE also aims to build a platform in which researchers and general public, in particular policy makers, can interact. To this end, MOVE is committed to organize workshops and conferences, have an active program of visitors, and expand by hiring world class researchers.

MOVE members are also involved in the graduate program of the Department of Economics at UAB to teach and advise graduate students.

Located in Barcelona, one of the most active research places in economics in Europe, MOVE's objective is to contribute to this outstanding group of scholars in institutions like Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Institute of Economic Analysis (IAE), the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
