The Casino group is a huge conglomerate of several enterprises, a French mass retailer with operations around the world. The group owns a lot of different types of supermarkets, each one with its own brand, style, etc. in order to get to all the population sectors. Two of these brands are Franprix and Leader Price, which in its Supply Chain section, this internship has taken place.
The Supply Chain can be divided in two parts. There is a team for all the purveyors, which we call “appros”, charged of passing the buying orders. Just next to them is where the internship has taken place, in a team called the “Pôle Promo” that could maybe be translated in English as Promo Hub. In the Promo Hub we are charged with the management of the promotional operations (OPs). When we talk about a promotional operation we refer to the periods where you can find some products that have special buying conditions. Everybody is used to see lots of offers when shopping in the supermarket. We can find, for example, a 50% of discount in your second product, a bigger quantity for the same price or a price lower than the usual one. All these price changes are called promotional mechanisms.
There are about 2 promotional operations per month for Franprix and 1 per week for Leader Price. In order to manage them, the Promo Hub must follow all the steps of the process for each operation. These steps are: Estimations, Reservations, Purchasing, Orders, Monitoring, Balance.
Although these are the main steps, there are always exceptions to the rule and unexpected problems that need and specific solution, which cannot be explained in this report, as every case is different. In this abstract the company where the company where the internship takes place has been briefly described, just like the main job the Promo Hub does. Following, the report itself has all this information better explained. I hope you will find it interesting. |
