dc.description.abstract
This important volume stems from the Materiality as Décor: Aesthetics, Semantics and Function colloquium (June 2020) and is the third of De Gruyter’s DECOR series, which was created for the dissemination of the results of the eponymous European Research Council funded project on Roman decorative principles directed by Annette Haug (Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel). The book consists of 14 papers examining the materials constituting Late Republican and Early Imperial art and architecture in relation to the three specific qualities of aesthetics, semantics, and function.
