Les necròpolis dels Castellons (Flix, Ribera d’Ebre): les excavacions a Castellons 4

Abstract

En aquest treball presentem els resultats preliminars de la recerca que s’està duent a terme a la necròpolis de Castellons 4, la qual s’integra dins d’un jaciment constituït per quatre àrees, dues d’hàbitat (Castellons 1 i 2) i dues necròpolis (Castellons 3 i 4). Les excavacions efectuades el 2020 i 2021 han posat al descobert un total de trenta-tres de túmuls circulars plans, amb urnes funeràries de ceràmica a mà, tot i que també se’n documenten dos enterraments sense túmul, caracteritzats per contenir urnes de ceràmica a torn com a vas cinerari. La continuació d’aquests treballs permetrà aprofundir sobre el coneixement del món funerari i l’estructura social de les comunitats que van habitar el curs inferior de l’Ebre entre la primera edat del Ferro i els inicis de l’ibèric antic.

In this article, we present the preliminary results from the research we are conducting in the necropolis called Castellons 4, which belongs to an archaeological site made up of four areas: two settlements (Castellons 1 and 2) and two necropolises (Castellons 3 and 4). Excavations conducted in 2020 and 2021 uncovered thirty-three flat and circular tumuli, with hand pottery cinerary urns, as well as two burials without tumulus, characterised by containing wheel-turned pottery as a cinerary vase. The continuity of fieldwork will provide us with deeper knowledge about the funerary world and the social structure of the communities that lived in the lower course of the Ebro River during the Early Iron Age and the Early Iberian period.
