Inscripció romana trobada en les excavacions de València la Vella (Riba-roja de Túria, València)

Abstract

Presentem una nova inscripció romana trobada en les excavacions de la ciutat visigoda de València la Vella (Riba-roja de Túria, València), on s’havia reutilitzat per als fonaments d’un edifici. Es tracta d’un epígraf funerari que adopta la forma d’estela arquitectònica, un tipus de monument que té paral·lels a la veïna ciutat d’Edeta. Se’n conserven alguns fragments força malmesos on figuren dos noms incomplets, possiblement d’un matrimoni. La inscripció pot datar-se entre la fi del segle I i el començament del II n. e.

We present a new Roman inscription found in the excavations at the Visigothic city of València la Vella (Riba-roja de Túria, València), where it had been reused in the foundations of a building. It is a funerary inscription in the form of an architectural stele, a type of monument that has parallels in the nearby city of Edeta. The surviving fragments, rather damaged, bear two incomplete names, possibly belonging to a married couple. The inscription can be dated to between the late first and early second century CE.
