La fàbrica no era potser a Horta

Abstract

El cuadro "L'Usine d Horta d'Ebre" de Pa­blo Picasso podría, a pesar de lo que indica su nombre, no representar una fábrica de este lugar. Gracias a lo que dice Fernande Olivier, que por esas fechas viajaba con Pi­casso, se sabe que de camino hacia Harta se pararon en Tortosa. Este hecho sumado a la circunstancia que en Horta no hay ninguna palmera y que parece que nunca ha habido una fábrica, hace pensar a la autora que tal vez «L'Usine d Horta d'Ebre» fue pintada a partir de una de las fotografías que Picasso realizó en Tortosa, donde aún actualmente se pueden ver palmeras y tejerías a las afue­ras. En este sentido, el cuadro no sería fruto de la imaginación del artista, sino una trans­posición precubista de una imagen real, como los demás paisajes que pintó de Horta

Despite its title, the painting L'Usine d Horta d'Ebre, by Pablo Picasso, might not depict a factory in this location. According to Fer­nande Olivier, who travelled with Picasso those days, they stopped in Tortosa on their way to Harta. As there are no palm trees in Harta and it seems there never was a fac­tory there, the author thinks that I.:Usine d Horta d'Ebre could have been painted from one of the photographs Picasso took in Tor­tosa, where, even nowadays, palm trees and textile factories can be found in the outskirts of the town. lf that were so, the painting would not be the result of the artist's imag­ination but, as other landscapes from Horta he painted, the cubist transposition of a real image.
