Sobre el pintor Perot Gascó (segle XVI)

Abstract

El pintor Perot Gaseó, fill i successor de Joan Gascó (m. 1529) al taller més actiu de Vic entre 1500-1550, encara és molt poc conegut, igual que la seva pintura -sovint confosa i assignada al cataleg patern-. Paral·lelament a la recerca documental, doncs, caldria analitzar de nou les obres atribuïdes tant a Perot com al vell Joan Gascó, per poder-ne confrontar l'estil i destriar amb fonament les assignables a cadascun. Aquí volem contribuir a aquesta caracterització artística de Perot Gascó amb dues observacions molt precises i diferents. La primera analitza la resolució espacial de les seves escenes, profundament distinta de la constant del seu pare. La segona, arran de publicar una obra de Perot fins ara desconeguda, remarca la modularitat compositiva i altres afinitats d'una serie de pintures d'oratori que també li són clarament adjudicables.

El pintor Perot Gascó, hijo y sucesor de Joan Gaseó (m. 1529) en el taller más activo de Vic entre 1500 y 1550, es todavía poco conocido, al igual que su pintura -a menudo confundida y asignada al catálogo paterno-. Así pues, paralelamente a la investigación documental, sería preciso analizar de nuevo las obras atribuidas tanto a Perot como al viejo Joan Gaseó, para poder confrontar su estilo y seleccionar con fundamento las asignables a cada uno de ellos. Deseamos aquí contribuir a esta caracterización artística de Perot Gaseó con dos observaciones muy precisas y diferentes. La primera analiza la resolución espacial de sus escenas, profundamente distintas de la que es constante en su padre. La segunda, con motivo de la publicación de una obra de Perot hasta hoy desconocida, pone de relieve la modularidad compositiva y otras afinidades de una serie de pinturas de oratorio que también le son claramente adjudicables.

The painter Perot Gascó, Joan Gascó's son and successor ( died in 1529) at the most active workshop in Vic between 1500-1550, is still not very well known, the same as his painting -which is often confused and assigned to his father-. Together with the documentary research, it should be convenient to check out again the works assigned to Perot as well as those of the old Joan Gascó, in order to confront the style and distinguish with foundation the works assigned to both of them. Here, we want to take part in this artistic characteriza­tion of Perot Gascó with two specific and different remarks. The first one analyses the space resolution of his scenes, strongly different from his father's. The second one, due to the pub­lication of a Perot's work which was unknown until now, underlines the compositive modularity and other similarities of a group of oratory paintings that are also clearly assigned to him.
