Com les escoles Magnet estan donant resposta a la problemàtica de la segregació escolar?

Abstract

La segregació escolar és una problemàtica punyent des de fa molt de temps en la nostra societat. Dades de la situació espanyola evidencien que és un dels principals factors que afecten l’equitat educativa del nostre país, provocant un major efecte negatiu en els col·lectius més vulnerables. Per tant, és necessari combatre aquesta problemàtica, ja que entre les seves conseqüències, trobem la vulneració del dret a l’educació en igualtat d’oportunitats, protegit per la Convenció de les Nacions Unides dels Drets de l’infant. Sabem, a partir de diverses recerques, que en nombrosos municipis de Catalunya hi ha desequilibris significatius entre centres escolars en la composició social de l’alumnat, tot i ubicar-se en la mateixa zona. En resposta a aquesta problemàtica, es vol donar visibilitat al programa «Magnet. Aliances per a l’èxit educatiu», una estratègia que, a partir del seu projecte, vol fer front a aquestes desigualtats, amb l’objectiu de garantir l’heterogeneïtat social a les escoles. Per tant, davant de la realitat de la segregació escolar a Catalunya i en el context de les escoles Magnet, el present article pretén analitzar com aquestes escoles estan donant resposta amb el seu programa educatiu a la problemàtica de la segregació escolar. Això s’aconseguirà mitjançant l’anàlisi d’un conjunt de sis entrevistes, per tal d’obtenir dades qualitatives. Els participants que formaran part de la recerca seran, d’una banda, una experta en l’àmbit de la segregació escolar i, d’altra banda, cinc professionals que han viscut de prop l’experiència del programa. Les evidències recollides mostren que les escoles Magnet són una estratègia efectiva contra la segregació escolar, ja que a més de provocar més heterogeneïtat social als centres, té beneficis importants en ells. Aquesta investigació és de gran interès, ja que tracta amb profunditat una realitat educativa actual i, a la vegada, dona veu a una estratègia efectiva, que no té el reconeixement que hauria de tenir, com és el programa «Magnet. Aliances per a l'èxit educatiu».

The problem of school segregation has been present for a long time in our society. Data from the Spanish situation show that it’s one of the main factors affecting the educational equity of our country, causing a greater negative effect on the most vulnerable groups. Therefore, this problem must be combated, since its consequences include the violation of the right to education on equal opportunities, protected by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. We know, from various researches, that in numerous municipalities in Catalonia there are significant imbalances between schools in the social composition of the students, despite being located in the same area. In light of this problem, I want to give visibility to an initiative called «Magnet program. Alliances for educational success», a project whose strategy seeks to deal with these inequalities, with the aim of guaranteeing social heterogeneity in schools. Therefore, faced with the reality of school segregation in Catalonia and in the context of Magnet schools, this article aims to analyse how these schools are responding with their educational programme to the problem of school segregation. This will be achieved by analysing a set of six interviews, in order to obtain qualitative data. The participants who will be part of the research will be, on the one hand, an expert in the field of school segregation and, on the other hand, five professionals who have been closely involved in the experience of the programme. The results showed that Magnet schools are an effective program against school segregation, as in addition to causing more social heterogeneity in schools, it has significant benefits in them. This research is of great interest because it deals in depth with a current educational reality and, at the same time, it gives voice to an effective strategy that doesn’t have the recognition it should have, as is the «Magnet program. Alliances for educational success».
