Als homes i les dones de demà: el projecte “Vida Social” en la pedagogia de Pere Vergés

Abstract

La situació política, social i cultural a Catalunya a principis del segle XX va contribuir al sorgiment de línies pedagògiques influenciades per les concepcions noucentistes de l’època i la voluntat de tornar als ideals mediterranistes i d’ordre de les polis de l’antiga Grècia. En aquell context, Pere Vergés (1896-1970), mestre i pedagog, es va proposar oferir una educació centrada en la formació dels homes i les dones de demà mitjançant el seu projecte anomenat Vida Social. El present article analitza com el projecte de Vida Social s’aplica actualment a l’Escola Garbí Pere Vergés de Badalona, així com la influència que té en la manera de fer de l’alumnat que hi participa. La recerca de camp, s’ha dut a terme amb l’ús de qüestionaris i focus group, on s’ha pogut comprovar com el projecte ideat per Vergés fa gairebé un segle ha mantingut la seva essència, adaptant-se als signes del temps i deixant una empremta molt visible en el tarannà personal d’aquells qui han estat immersos, destacant sobretot qualitats com la responsabilitat, l’autogestió i l'autonomia.

The political, social and cultural situation in Catalonia in the beginning of the 20th century contributed to the emergence of pedagogical lines influenced by the conceptions of the “Noucentisme” movement and a will to look back to the mediterranean and order ideals of the ancient Greece polis. In this context, Pere Vergés (1896-1970), teacher and pedagog, thought of offering an education centred in the formation of the men and the women of tomorrow, by means of his project called "Vida Social" (Social Life). The present article analyses how the Vida Social project applies to the Garbí Pere Vergés School in Badalona, as well as the influence that has in the way to proceed of the students who take part in it. After releasing an exploratory study following a research of field using questionnaires and focus groups, it has been possible to check how the project contrived by Vergés almost a century ago has kept its essence, adapting to the signs of the time and leaving a very visible print in the personal disposition of those who have been immersed in it, highlighting especially qualities such as responsibility, self-management and autonomy.
