Dominis monàstics i organització del territori a l'edat mitjana

Abstract

Study of the domains of several Catalan monasteries during the Carolingian age and the central Middle Ages. This work analyses the main traits of the central domain that surrounded the abbey as well as the distribution of the various scattered smaller domains. The aim of the article is to try to find out what products were obtained in these territories, the possible relationship between the land distribution and the routes of transhumance and, finally, whether any monastic freehold originated within the fiscal domains that already existed in the earIy Middle Ages.
