La balada de l’hivern d’Anton Navarro: literatura i cançó popular

Abstract

En aquest article presentem la figura del poeta ribagorçà Mn. Anton Navarro (1867-1936) i descrivim les estratègies poètiques que atorguen un caràcter popular a l’obra La balada de l’hivern (1905), entre les quals hi ha la inclusió de versos del cançoner popular. En relació amb això, resolem el problema de l’autoria del «Prefaci» de La balada (la cançó «Pastoret, d’on vens?»), que el músic Josep Ferrer atribueix a Navarro el 1907. El pastor que baixa de la muntanya quan arriba el fred inicia una de les dues etapes del cicle anual de la transhumància; un tema que té en aquesta obra un valor simbòlic, i que aporta un exemple singular del paper de la natura i de la vida pirinenca en la poesia d’Anton Navarro.

This article looks at the work of Father Anton Navarro (1867-1936), a poet from the Ribagorça, in the Catalan Pyrenees. It pays close attention to the poetic resources that lend a folk-song flavour to his second book, La balada de l’hivern (1905). One such resource is the incorporation of traditional songs. In this regard, we solve the question of the authorship of the book’s «Prefaci» (the song «Pastoret, d’on vens?»), which the musician Josep Ferrer attributed to Navarro in 1907. The shepherd who comes down from the mountain when the cold arrives is beginning one of the two stages in the yearly transhumance cycle, a theme that has symbolic value in La balada de l’hivern and provides a unique example of the role of nature and Pyrænean life in Anton Navarro’s poetry.
