dc.description.abstract | The use of renewable energy has been increasing in recent years. In 2015, the Paris agreement was signed in which the signatory countries are committed to the fact that the global temperature does not increase more than 2ºC. In order to reduce greenhouse gases, renewable energy can be a great ally. This project investigates the optimization of wind farms, whose installed capacity is expected to increase in the coming decades. The objective is to develop an optimization methodology for wind farms. Two models of wind farms have been taken into account: those located offshore and those within the territory, whichever on flat or mountainous terrain. For the offshore wind farms, the use of a genetic algorithm has been proposed to optimize them, which also has been useful for those wind farms that are in levelled terrains. For wind farms located on mountainous areas, the use of OpenFoam is proposed, with the aim of doing a CFD study of the terrain and then locating the position of the wind turbines. |
