There is strong evidence that most of the global warming observed in the past years is attributable to human activities and that the greenhouse gas making the largest contribution from human activities is carbon dioxide (CO2). It is released by the burning of biomass or fossil fuel as gasoline, diesel or natural gas used, among others, to power vehicles (1). With the aim to reduce such source of greenhouse gases (GHG), worldwide policies on emissions reduction have been created over the pasts 20-30 years. The stringencies of these regulations regarding the emissions limits have risen in an exponential way during the last years and are expected to continue like this in the following decades.
