Compound materials have been used in building sector since ancient times. Nowadays, in order to compete against synthetic fibres, scientists have come back to the study and reserach of fibre cement from vegetable fibres -an approachable, cheap and renewable source with excellent mechanical applications and results. The aim of this work is to find a type of fibre cement with both excellent mechanical characteristics and great durability. For fibre cement to be made, trials have been carried out, both in terms of the matrix and the treatment of the fibres. Trials on the matrix were as follows: on the one hand, cement test tubes with different concentration of silica smoke were manufactured; on the other hand, test tubes with inicial mixing only, by adding metacaoline with the aim of testing them under compression. As for the fibre trials, several cornification treatments have been made, out of which both the water absorption and the resistance to traction amounts were extracted. Treatments leading to best outcomes were the chosen ones. These trials were carried out in order to create a series of fibre cements which have been tested under bending both before and after an accelerated ageing process. In this study, we have proved how fibre cement made out of non-treated fibres obtained better outcomes under bending after 28 days, while the fibre cement made out of hornification-based treatment with cycles of pressing, water and heat of 160ºC worked better after the accelerated ageing treatment. Fibre cement made out of autoclave-treated fibres result in lower tension-deformity curves than the rest of the treatments.

Des de l'antiguitat s'han utilitzat materials compostos per a la construcció. Actualment, s'ha tornat a investigar el fibrociment a partir de fibres vegetals, un recurs proper, renovable, d'un cost econòmic baix i amb bones prestacions mecàniques, per tal de poder competir amb les fibres sintètiques. L'objectiu d'aquest treball és trobar un fibrociment d'elevades característiques mecàniques i bona durabilitat. Per la fabricació d'un fibrociment, s'han fet assajos previs tant, pel que fa la matriu, com pel que fa el tractament de les fibres. Els assajos de la matriu han estat dos: s'han fabricat provetes de ciment amb diferents concentracions de fum de sílice i altres provetes amb única mescla mare afegint-hi metacaolin per tal d'assajar-les a compressió Pel que fa a les fibres, s'han realitzat diferents tractaments de cornificació dels quals, s'han extret el valor d'absorció d'aigua i de la resistència a tracció, i s'han escollit els tractaments que han donat millors resultats. Aquests assajos previs s'han dut a terme per confeccionar diversos fibrociments que s'han assajat a flexió abans i després d'un procediment d'envelliment accelerat. S'ha pogut observar en aquest treball, que el fibrociment fabricat amb les fibres sense tractar ha obtingut els millors resultats de flexió a l'edat de 28 dies, mentre que el fabricat amb les fibres cornificades amb el cicle planxa i estufa a 160ºC i aigua, han donat els millors resultats posteriors a l'assaig d'envelliment accelerat. El fibrociment fet amb les fibres tractades amb autoclau han donat unes corbes tensió-deformació amb valors més baixos que la resta de tractaments.

Des de la antigüedad se han empleado materiales compuestos para la construcción. Actualmente se ha vuelto a investigar el fibrocemento a partir de fibras vegetales, un recurso cercano, renovable, con un coste económico bajo y con buenas prestaciones mecánicas para poder competir con las fibras sintéticas. El objetivo de este trabajo es encontrar un fibrocemento de elevadas características mecánicas y una buena durabilidad. Para la fabricación de un fibrocemento, se han hecho ensayos previos tanto para la matriz como para el tratamiento de las fibras. Los ensayos de la matriz han sido dos: se han fabricado probetas de cemento con diferentes concentraciones de humo de sílice y otras probetas con una única mezcla madre añadiendo metacaolin para ensayarlas a compresión. Respecto a las fibras, se han realizado diferentes tratamientos de cornificación, de los cuales se ha extraído el valor de absorción de agua y la resistencia a tracción, y se han seleccionado los tratamientos con mejores resultados. Estos ensayos previos han sido realizados para confeccionar diferentes fibrocementos que se han ensayado a flexión antes y después de un proceso de envejecimiento acelerado. Se ha podido observar en este trabajo que el fibrocemento fabricado con las fibras sin tratar ha obtenido los mejores resultados de flexión a la edad de 28 días, mientras que el fabricado con fibras cornificadas con un ciclo de plancha y estufa a 160ºC y agua, han obtenido los mejores resultados posteriores en el ensayo de envejecimiento acelerado. El fibrocemento fabricado con las fibras tratadas con autoclave ha dado unas curvas tensión-deformación con valores más bajos que los demás tratamientos.
