[ENGLISH] For ninth consecutive year the Melilla Monumental City Foundation and the Gaudí Workshop of the Superior
Polytechnic Edification School of Barcelona (EPSEB) of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia fulfil the
agreement made in 2004.
The target of that agreement consists on making a historic study and a graphic rendering of 565 modernistic
buildings in total from the “Melilla’s Architecture List”. Every year, 4 students and 2 professors from the
University travel to the autonomic city to study and to catalogue fourteen buildings from the city of Melilla, as
well of doing the fifteenth front of an emblematic building of the Autonomic City. During a week a fieldwork is
done by the students which later will be presented for them as his Final Degree Project, moreover of being an
architectonic information which will be delivered to the Autonomic City.
In the end of the year 2013 the Melilla Monumental Foundation has eight copies and a total of 120 modernistic
buildings listed.
In the middle of March of 2013, the student David Bustos Castillejo, who was studying the ECD (Expansion of
Competences Diploma) of “Intervention in the Architectonic Patrimony”, was interested in the Final Degree
Project proposal: “Rendering and study of 15 modernistic buildings in the city of Melilla”. For this project, it was
necessary to be two groups of two students each one. But all of the partners from the specialization had chosen a
thematic for his Final Degree Project. From this situation born the proposal to the student, Kirian Pardillos
Mañes, who then was studying the specialization in “Building Environmental Sustainability”. Despite that fact,
he was interested in this Project because it was different than the others and a real challenge. After talking to the
professors of each specialization they went on an accord to form one of the two groups who will travel to Melilla
to do the Final Degree Project. |
