At TU Delft, a BMW is available for research purposes. The original commercial Anti-lock
Brake System has been disconnected from the vehicle so as to look into different ABS control
strategies. In order to study ABS control, this assignment deals with the development of a
Simulink© model for the brake vehicle dynamics. Moreover, the control logic of an ABS system
is studied, specifically the 5-phase hybrid control approach, partially developed at TU Delft.
One of the major problems with the 5-phase algorithm is finding an appropriate set of
parameters. Therefore, simulations are carried out to get familiar with the tuning of the
algorithm and its behaviour. Furthermore, the actuation of the hydraulic-unit valves is
discussed. Last but not least, a simplified version of the 5-phase algorithm is implemented in the
vehicle and tested on a test track with the objective to provide an open architecture suitable for
further research |
