[cat] L'any 1725 el Reial Cos d'Enginyers Militars va emprendre la projecció d'uns quarters permanents per a la ciutat de Tortosa que es convertirien en la intervenció arquitectònica i militar més important duta a terme a la localitat durant la primera meitat del segle XVIII. Partint d'una tipologia de gran afinitat i similitud amb els criteris seguits per altres sistemes quarterers europeus, aquest article pretén proposar una nova lectura en relació al seu procés d'edificació i als motius que van fer perllongar fins al 1751 el seu obratge, a través de l'estudi d'un seguit de notícies inèdites sobre la seva construcció.
[eng] In 1725, the Spanish Royal Corps of Military Engineers commissioned the construction project of the permanent quarters for the garrison confined within the city walls of Tortosa, which became the most important military construction work undertaken in this place during the first half of the eighteenth century. Based on a «barrack-type» that had great affinity and similarity with the quarter’s system of some European Countries, this paper aims to offer new aspects about the building process to consider the reasons that lengthened the construction progress up to 1751, by analysing a series of unpublished news about this work.
