La tasca dels seus promotors no es limita a recollir tradicions orals per difondre-les en publicacions locals, sinó que materialitza per primer cop l'interès per la museografia etnogràfica, reflectint el trànsit del folklore a l'etnografia. Més enllà d'identificar el valor testimonial i evocatiu que tenen els objectes materials, el museu mostra un esforç per sistematitzar els seus treballs i explora la presentació contextual de les peces a través de recursos expositius innovadors. Si pretén donar continuïtat a aquesta tasca pionera, el nou Museu Etnogràfic també haurà de saber respondre, com van fer els impulsors de l'entitat en el seu moment, a les necessitats i els reptes que ens plantegen uns temps que són, com aquells, convulsos i incerts.[eng] The Ethnographic Museum of Ripoll conducted a conceptual change that had great transcendence in the study of the traditional ways of life in Catalonia. Its managers did not limit themselves to gather oral traditions in order to publish them in local outlets. They promoted ethnographic museology materializing the transition from folklore to ethnography. The Museum went beyond identifying the specific value of material objects, it systematized its collections and explored contextual exhibition of the pieces through innovative resources. To achieve continuity in its pioneering task, the Museum and its managers found answers to the needs and challenges of the organization that were, like the times they were living in, convulse and uncertain.
