is of great importance for understanding intermolecular interactions—interactions&#xd;
which determine the macroscopic performance of liquid fuels used in modern high&#xd;
performance engines. Accurate prediction of viscosity and surface tension for binary&#xd;
mixtures of components with marked property differences remains a challenging task&#xd;
due to the nonlinearity and sensitivity of the detailed molecular interactions of the&#xd;
blend components. This challenge is compounded by the non-Newtonian fluid effects&#xd;
that begin to develop as seed-particles are added to the flow. For this work, detailed&#xd;
fluid measurements of viscosity, density, and surface tension were carried out using&#xd;
rigorously prepared binary mixtures of dipropylene glycol and water at nominal&#xd;
lab temperatures. In addition, a selection of 5 glycol/water blends were tested in&#xd;
the Chalmers steady spray rig under turbulent flow conditions. Here, microscale&#xd;
fluorescent particle velocimetry was applied to measure the internal velocity profile&#xd;
in a plain-orifice nozzle. These flows generated by the spray rig are central to several&#xd;
ongoing projects at Combustion, and highly sensitive to fluid properties. These data&#xd;
and the subsequent property model comparisons of this work directly support the&#xd;
primary breakup studies of the spray group at Combustion and studies of pulsating&#xd;
and constrained flows at Fluid Dynamics.</dc:description>
