Reconfigurable manufacturing systems are designed to enhance efficiency and flexibility in industrial environments by allowing rapid shifts between different product types and easy adjustments in production volumes with minimal downtime. This enables cost-effective scalability and improved adaptability, allowing companies to respond more effectively to dynamic market demands. The study is applied to a small chocolate production enterprise, aiming to assess the methodology's usefulness while evaluating the proposed solutions through simulation-based analysis. Using FlexSim, an industrial process modelling software, several system configurations were tested. The most efficient reconfiguration alternative reduced production time by almost a half and provided a wider range of production possibilities improving process flexibility and product variance. The overall system gained better adaptability to demand fluctuations and reduced storage time, consequently improving consumed product quality.
