<dc:description>The ability to utilize resources to meet the need of growing diversity in services and user behavior marks the future of cognitive wireless communication systems. Cognitive wireless technologies for vehicular communications, in combination with Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) modes aim at extending direct Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) short-distance communications for smart mobility. In this regard, OAM antennas need to be developed to support these technologies. To this end, here we describe a compact antenna supporting the first OAM modes. Also, the antenna properties are discussed and are numerically and experimentally validated for OAM modes of l=±1 . Particularly, for the considered OAM modes, the antenna achieves more than 500 MHz operation bandwidth at the frequency of operation of 3.5 GHz. Also, for l=±1 OAM modes, the null beamwidth aligns precisely with the anticipated dimensions theoretically computed.</dc:description>
