00925njm 22002777a 4500 dc Cos Pijuan, Jordi author 2024-05-14 En la comarca de les Garrigues (Lleida) existeix des de fa anys una tradició picapedrera i d’aprofitament de la roca ornamental molt important. Això és degut, principalment, als jaciments de pedra gres que afloren a poca profunditat. Concretament, en el terme municipal d’Els Omellons hi ha afloraments importants d'aquest material, el qual s’ha emprat al llarg de la història per fer grans construccions de Catalunya, com ara esglésies, paviments, aplacats, cornises, finestres o escultures, entre d’altres usos. Germans Balagué ha estat explotant aquest tipus de material, durant diverses dècades, per a la seva venda i elaboració. Actualment degut a l'augment de demanda del material s'està arribant a l'esgotament de les pedreres i en previsió d'aquest fet volen obrir una nova pedrera al terme municipal d’Els Omellons. Aquest treball aglutina el projecte d’explotació de la futura pedrera i un pre-projecte de restauració on es detallen les línies mestres de la restauració requerida. La zona on es pretén obrir la futura explotació rep la denominació del paratge de "Combarràs," ubicat a uns 1000 metres en direcció Sud-est del municipi, situat entre dos turons. La zona està conformada per una zona plana amb camps de conreu i una zona amb un cert pendent amb una vegetació escassa, formant una morfologia típica de la zona. 4L'afectació de l'explotació a la zona repercutirà en una part petita de tres camps de conreu, per poder crear una part de la pista d’accés que arribarà al jaciment, mentre que l'altra part de la pista serà una rampa que seguirà la carena del turó fins al jaciment. El mètode d'explotació serà el característic d'aquests tipus de jaciment, extraient blocs mitjançant espasa i equip de perforació. La idea és que mitjançant l'espasa i la perforadora es facin dos talls perpendiculars entre ells, creant dues o tres cares de tall, amb una alçada variable en funció de la potència de la capa explotable. Un cop el bloc és separat del jaciment es procedirà a la seva bolcada disposant de diferents sistemes per fer-ho, com a exemple gats hidràulics. Al finalitzar l'explotació es passarà als treballs de restauració, convertint la zona d'on s'ha extret el jaciment en un camp de conreu, aprofitant la pista ja construïda hi tornant a replantar tota la vegetació per recuperar la morfologia preexistent. Els impactes generats a la zona seran baixos, ja que l'extensió de l'explotació és petita i la maquinària només s'utilitzarà en moments més aviat puntuals del dia. Un altre factor Combarràs 2 7 important és que no es faran servir explosius per l'extracció del material. L'impacte més significatiu que hi pot haver és el visual tot i que en estar a la vall entre els dos turons serà pràcticament imperceptible. Com a conclusió, hi ha molts factors favorables per a la possible obertura de la pedrera. Ja que l'explotació no comportarà un gran canvi en la morfologia existent ni unes molèsties excessivament grans mentre la pedrera estigui en actiu. També, un cop restaurada s'haurà creat una nova zona potencialment beneficiosa pel terme municipal i una neteja de la part del voltant en previsió de futurs incendis. In the region of Les Garrigues (Lleida) there has been a long-standing tradition of stonemasonry and use of ornamental stone. This is mainly due to the deposits of stoneware stone that outcrop at shallow depths. Specifically, in the municipality of Els Omellons there are important outcrops of this material, which has been used throughout history to make large buildings in Catalonia, such as churches, paving, cladding, cornices, windows and sculptures, among other uses. Germans Balagué has been exploiting this type of material, for several decades, for its sale and elaboration. Currently, due to the increase in demand for the material, the quarries are reaching exhaustion and in anticipation of this fact they want to open a new quarry in the municipality of Els Omellons. This work includes the exploitation project of the future quarry and a preliminary project of restoration where the main lines of the required restoration are detailed. The area where the future quarry is to be opened is called "*Combarràs," located 1000 metres to the south-east of the municipality, between two hills. The area is made up of a flat area with crop fields and an area with a certain slope and sparse vegetation, forming a typical morphology of the area. The impact of mining on the area will affect a small part of three cultivated fields in order to create part of the access track to the deposit, while the other part of the track will be a ramp that will follow the hillside to the deposit. The mining method will be the typical for these types of deposits, extracting blocks by sword and drilling equipment. The idea is that two cuts are made perpendicular to each other, creating two cut faces and two visible faces or three cut faces and one visible face, the height Combarràs 2 8 being defined by the potency of the mineable layer. Once the block has been spread from the deposit, it will be overturned using different systems, such as hydraulic jacks. At the end of the exploitation, restoration work will be carried out, converting the area from which the deposit has been extracted into a cultivation field, taking advantage of the track already built and replanting all the vegetation to recover the pre-existing morphology. The impacts generated in the area will be low, as the extent of the exploitation is small and the machinery will only be used at rather specific times of the day. Another important factor is that no explosives will be used for the extraction of the material. The most significant impact there may be is visual, although it will be virtually imperceptible as it lies in the valley between the two hills. To sum up, there are several factors that are favourable to the possible opening of the quarry. Since the quarrying will not entail a major change in the existing morphology or an excessively large nuisance while the quarry is active. Also, once the quarry has been restored, a new potentially beneficial area will have been created in the Municipality and the surroundings will have been cleaned up to prevent future fires.
