<dc:description>This paper presents a partial review of the literature related to the maker movement, its inclusion in engineering education and the way in which this insertion contributes on the development of skills. Initially, it is based on the definition of the maker movement, its emergence, fundamental components, ideological principles and to introduce some of the globally recognized personalities who promote it. Subsequently, the particularities of makerspaces will be presented: what they are, what they are used for, what are the most recognized types of makerspace, how they are classified according to their emphasis, some considerations to structure them and the most common “structural” typologies of this type of spaces. Also, the influence of the maker movement emphasizing in the development of skills in engineering education is presented. Finally, the process used for the development of the literature reviewed in this paper, the partial results that have been achieved and the current state of this research are shown</dc:description>
