<dc:description>The current power grid model is based on a system of power plants owned and operated by electric companies, and the grid control is done through the management of these plants. However, this model is being disrupted by the emergence of renewable energies (such as photovoltaic and wind), which enable consumers to produce its own energy which can be fed into the power grid. The challenge with this newly introduced energy model is that we lack the ability to control it. This might not be a problem nowadays, but it could become problematic in the future as renewable energy sources continue to proliferate and generate electricity at various points across the grid. Therefore, a new power grid model is required, and the model that we are going to propose in this thesis is based on power routers. The power router is a device located at different points throughout the power grid, and it enables us to manage the injection of energy into the grid. As a result, the power grid will evolve into a new concept: the power router grid</dc:description>
