   <dc:description>This dissertation consists of the standardization of supply chain planning best practices, and the analysis of the implications in adopting them. Supply chain disruptions have grown to be a major economic challenge, and in today’s complex context, it has become of upmost importance for businesses to start a journey towards digitalization. The generated practices are designed to be a key component of the future intelligent/ digital supply chains. This dissertation builds a theoretical framework for the design of such best practices by overview- ing which are the processes covered by supply chain planning, and by exploring SAP S/4 HANA and SAP IBP; which are the leading and more advanced software solutions offered by SAP for planning thus far. The exposed best practices, which are built on top of the scheme of capabilities within the men- tioned SAP offerings, are presented through process flows. These display which are the inputs, outputs, and activities involved in each sub-process within supply chain planning. With the purpose of studying its impact, this dissertation contains a business case consisting of the project of adoption of such practices for a fictional company called SmartFurniture. Within the business case, the As-Is of the company’s processes is defined, and the benefits of the imple- mentation are shown via story boards. Moreover, a timeline for such project is proposed, and its economic impact is analyzed considering the resulting changes in costs and revenues. This last part of the business case proves the importance, and the positive influence on profitability transitioning towards the designed best practices may have</dc:description>
